About the breeder
Hi, my name is Cindy. I am the owner/breeder of FaryTail Rattery. I have been around rats since I was 6 years old. They have always been a family favorite. I actively have owned them on my own since I was 15. I started breeding rats in 2013. I opened my rattery soon after. I have other pets as well. Currently I have 2 dogs. An 11 year old Australian Cattle Dog named Luna and a 1 year old Australian Shepherd mix named Towa. I also have 2 cats. Crowley is a 5 year old grey tabby. He is the light of my life aside from my human kids. He was rescued as a 3 week old kitten. Then there is Skeeter. She is a 3 year old black and white little ball of energy. I also have 1 male guinea pig named Gravy. Though he is truly my sons pet but I of course help care for him.
As a hobby I crochet. I mainly make amigurumi. I just love the squishiness of them. If you are interested in them I so have a Facebook page for them as well. It is called FaryTail Crafts.

Behind the Rattery name
FaryTail rattery got its name by my love of anime. One of my all time favorites is Fairy Tail. While I didn't want to really copy off the anime itself I chose to take part of my actual last name when naming my rattery. Over the years I have thought about changing it but I never go through with it. I love the way it sounds and have been known as FaryTail Rattery since opening.
About the Rattery
We are a closed rattery. Meaning we do not allow anyone to come in and view the rats we have. I do this for many reasons.
- The safety of my family
- To keep my other animals safe
- I run the rattery out of my home
- To keep my rats healthy and disease free.
FaryTail Rattery's caging:
We use homemade bin cages. While some will say that it is not ethical and there isn't enough space for rats to move around. They are wrong. Bin cages can be really good permanent caging as long as they are at least 115qt bins and have at least the 2 long sides and the lid cut out. We also use Double critter nations as well as the odd smaller but appropriate cage.

FaryTail Rattery's bedding choice:
We use kiln dried pine. The brand is called Marth. I get it at Menards. You can ask your local feed store if they could order it.

FaryTail Rattery's food choice:
We feed a mix of dog food, Mazuri breeder 6f, rolled oats, calf mana, and sometimes hog feed. They also get veggies and some fruits a few times a week.
